Global Warming and Climate Change is the biggest environmental issue that we face these days. the long term effects of these environmental changes to a nations economy is quite damaging. there would be a shortage in food supply as well as on water supply too.
There are two statements in your comments that I disagree with.
First, is climate change the biggest environmental issue? I think there are a number of environmental issues which are very scary and possibly more important and easier to fix. First on my list would be over-fishing, we could simply stop fishing so much. Second, the sulphur and particulate matter in urban areas generated from consuming oil and coal is carcinogenic and causes tremendous amounts of cancer.
The second statement about the impact of climate change is quite debatable. The evidence of climate change on food supply is not solid by any measure (even the IPCC) and there is a possibility that food production will increase with warming. Water is not going anywhere, yes global warming would change water patterns and weather, but the shortages caused in one place will likely cause more water in other places. The biggest issue with water is our overuse of it – if we became more efficient (which is not hard) we could save a lot more water than tackling it through carbon emissions reductions. Flushing 6-10 gallons of clean processed water into the sewer every time we go to the bathroom is insane!
Thank you for your comment, it is greatly appreciated.
